- A very successful clothier in Westbury, his house is still standing. It is pictured above. During renovations, were discovered three shields carved. They were carved "ECA" (Edward Cogswell and Alicia), another reads "1591" and the third bears the Cogswell cloth logo.
- He is named in the will of his father Robert, who died in 1581, and is buried in St. Mary's Parish June 7, 1581. His mother Alicia was buried August 1, 1603
- Edward's will names his children, as does the will of his wife Alicia who died within a year of Edward's death.
