-Eleanor M. Engler (nee Vagrosky), 79, died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph Residential Center in Lorain after a short battle with cancer. Born in Lorain, she had been a lifelong resident. She was a 1944-B graduate of Lorain High School. Mrs. Engler was employed as an educational aide for Lorain City Schools for 11 years, before working as a lunch aide for nine years at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School. She was a writer of short stories, many of which were?published in Reader?s Digest. She enjoyed bingo and crafts. Survivors include her sons, Thomas Engler, David Engler and Robert Engler, all of Lorain and Alan of Ludowici, Ga.; daughters Karen Swihart, Deborah Avalos and Constance Januzzi, all of Lorain; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bradley B. Engler, in 1999; a daughter, Joann, in 1996; her parents, Joseph and Leocadia (nee Butkowski) Vagrosky; and a brother, Charles Vagrosky. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. A Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain, with the Rev. Joseph West, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
