Notes:
-Elmer Simpson relays that her family were Lutherans who emigrated to escape religious prosecution. That they walked to Pittsburgh, and settled in Tarentown, outside of Pittsburgh.
-Also that around 1900 they settled near Waterford, PA and bought a farm. The boys worked in the Steel Mills.
-The 1900 and 1910 Censii list Elizabeth as having been born in
Maryland, but other records and family story list "Altoona, PA". The
confusion was cleared up by finding the ship's manifest of her journey in
October 1848 in Baltimore harbor aboard the "Christopher Columbus". It
appears the family spent some time in Baltimore, but by 1860 her parents
were deceased, and she was living in a hotel owned by John Swiegart. Or
perhaps just her father was deceased, and John Sweigart married her
widowed mother. Her parents names also come from her death certificate.
