Notes:
-Conrad immigrated in 1802. A note in a book here says "He was chief watchman of the city of militia and chief of a voluntary German military company... and born in Rhinehessen section of Germany.
- A letter written by him in 1836 says he has been a citizen for 33 years: here
-He was a constable and an inn keeper in his times. He was 14 years old when he moved to the US with his family. His obituary in the Pittsburgh Christian Advocate 3 Sept 1840 p 128 says he was married at age 22 in Philadelphia and moved to Pitsburgh.
-Conrad's descendants through other children are a DNA match as expected to descnedants of Janetta.
-Conrad appears in the 1840 census in Butler County, PA.
-Conrad's father at age 45 is on a list of foreigners and listed as aa Taylor.
-His declaration of intent for becoming a citizen says he arrived April 14, 1802 and was born in Lunenbergs in the Princedom of Hesse Castle. (1820).
-History of Butler County says "Conrad Upperman organized the first police force of Pittsburg, and kept one of the early hotels opposite the site of the Monongahela House. He took quite a prominent part in the militia, and was familiarly known as Captain Upperman"
